Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

宁夏

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region lies in the northwest of China.

宁夏回族自治区位于中国西北部。

Travelling on the Ningxia Plains,

在宁夏平原上旅行，

one sees everywhere canals and weeping willows surrounding the homesteads,

放眼四望，家家流水，户户垂杨，

like the fertile plains lying south of the Yangtse River.

恰似江南水乡。

Although situated in an outlying part of the country,

Ningxia is richly endowed by nature,

deserving fully the name Sai' Wai' Jiang' Nan or Lush Southern Country Beyond the Great Wall.是名符其实的“塞外江南”。
