In northern country scene,

北国风光，

Expansive land are enclaved by ice,

千里冰封，

And vast sky is full of whirling snow.

万里雪飘。

Look in the areas along the Great Wall,

望长城内外，

Only the immense whiteness is seen;

惟余莽莽；

The rushing YellowRiver suddenly,

大河上下，

Loses its currents from the start to the end.

顿失滔滔。

The mountains undulate like silvery snakes are dancing,

山舞银蛇，

While the field is so white as if wax elephants are galloping,

原驰蜡象，

Vying with the heaven for their own statures.

欲与天公试比高。

Viewing on a sunny day,

须晴日，

All are clad in reddish white

看红装素裹，

Exceptionally enchanting.

分外妖娆。
