龟虽寿

The tortoise may live long, but there is still time to die.

神龟虽寿，犹有竟时；

Even if the snake can be lifted up in the fog, it will eventually die.

螣蛇乘雾，终为土灰。

An old steed in the stable still aspires to gallop a thousand li;

老骥伏枥，志在千里；

an old hero still cherishes high aspirations.

烈士暮年，壮心不已。 (上)

A turtle obtrudes its head from its shell. 

龟将它的头从甲壳中伸出来。

A turtle lays many eggs at once. 

海龟一次下许多蛋。

The turtle hibernates in a shallow burrow for six months of the year. 

海龟一年在一个浅洞中冬眠六个月。

It has been a hard winter, Grandpa said to the turtle.

好难挨的冬天啊，爷爷对乌龟说。

but in the water it isvery agile.
